For the second year in a row, a Hustle team has emerged victorious at the Softball Nation Fast Pitch Nationals tournament held in Richmond, VA. This year the victory went to the 14U-04 team coached by Steve Headley and Joe Goldey. The tournament consisted of 20+ teams from the VA, MD and surrounding areas. Hustle 14U came out strong during pool play and set the tone for the rest of the tournament. The team went 8-0 for the weekend, winning 3 on Friday, 3 on Saturday and setting themselves up for a 2 game day on Sunday. The girls battled through the hottest weekend of the year, with 100+ heat index all 3 days. It seemed as the heat may have powered their bats, as they were hot throughout, scoring 81 runs in the 8 games. On the other side of the ball the pitching and defense keep opponents bats cooled down throughout, only allowing 18 runs in 8 games and only allowing 6 runs in the 6 bracket games after pool play. This was icing on the cake for the girls incredible season, finishing the year at 14U with a 49-15-3 record. This amazing group of girls are poised and ready for their first 16U season and have already started that out with a 3-1 record.
